Several Maldivian students residing in Sri Lanka has gathered on Friday evening to show their solidarity on opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
A large mob of local students who are currently attaining their higher-studies qualifications had gathered to the ceremony held by former president Mohamed Nasheed and former vice-president Mohamed Jameel.
The students had discussed with the political leaders, about their requests for a new administration and voiced concerns about current issues.
Fawaz Anwar, who is credited as founding member of a student committee for Maldivian students, assured around 200 students have re-registered for the presidential polls during the ceremony.
The student committee leader had also asserted association's efforts were able to swerve at least 50 students who turned 18 this year and had no interest in voting.
