United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has waived visa fee for Maldivians travelling to the middle-eastern country from January 1, the archipelago's foreign ministry announced Monday.
Speaking during a press conference on Monday, state foreign minister Ahmed Khaleel said the UAE government has officially informed that the visa fee had been waived for Maldivians starting Tuesday.
"UAE government has made the necessary arrangements. The airlines have also been officially informed," Khaleel revealed.
The new visa arrangement was agreed During Maldives foreign minister Abdulla Shahid's recent visit to UAE, where he had met with his counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to reach the new visa agreement.
Khaleel said the government was working to reach a similar visa agreement with other middle-eastern countries.
