Maldives VP shifts to official residence at Hilaaleege

Vice-President, Faisal Naseem and his family has moved in to his official residence at Hilaaleege on Monday.

The move comes two months after Faisal was sworn in as Vice-President of Maldives. Hilaaleege underwent renovations and repairs before the family of five moved in to the residence.

During former president, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's five-year term of office, three vice presidents were appointed. The first VP, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed opted to live in Hilaaleege while his successor, Ahmed Adeeb chose to reside at Rehendhi Flat and other private residences. The last VP, Abdulla Jihad also resided in an apartment at Rehendhi Flat.

A budget of MVR2.5m has been budgeted for the maintenance of Hilaaleege for the year. The Presidential Residence, Muliaage, was budgeted MVR31.5m for the duration of the year.
