Police have launched an investigation into the death of 19 day old baby in Haa Alif Atoll Ihavandhoo island.
Police spokesperson however refused to divulge any details of the investigation.
AVAS understands that the baby who was sleeping in the same bed as the parents was found dead on Monday morning.
The baby had reportedly been unresponsive and was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to the island hospital.
The baby's nose had reportedly been bleeding but there were no signs of physical injury.
