Rights watchdog files lawsuit against state-run hospital

Human Rights Commisson of the Maldives (HRCM) has filed a lawsuit against state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

HRCM revealed in a Tweet that the case was filed against IGMH at the Civil Court as the hospital had been uncooperative in providing information requested by the commission regarding a case they are investigating. The initial hearing of the case was held on Thursday morning.

The commission did not reveal further details about the information they were seeking nor regarding their investigation.

When asked for a comment, IGMH said they cannot divulge any details regarding the case. The legal team of the hospital will answer on behalf of the hospital at court, said IGMH.
