Govt will not tolerate religious discord

The government will not tolerate religious discord, said President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday.

At a press conference, the President stressed the importance of the religious harmony in the community towards the positive development of the Maldivian archepelago.

The President said the Maldivian Constitution clearly defines what religion is, and there will be no hesitation on the government's part in implementing the laws.

"Acts of religious extremism will not be tolerated. This is what the Maldivian people tasked us with. We will carry out the responsibility", said President Solih.
