Pres Solih shifts blame over projects delay

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated on Thursday that the execution of new development projects are impeded due to issues with the projects implemented by his predecessor, Yameen Abdul Gayyoom's government.

President Solih stated this at a press conference in response to the opposition's denunciations that no development projects have been implemented by the incumbent government in the past three months.

Shedding light on the matter, President Solih noted that several development projects have been lined up by the government with alloted budgets, although the implementation of the projects are being stalled while the current issues with the mega-projects implemented by the previous government are being resolved.

"There are no budgetary constraints. However, the delays are due to the significant changes we have been forced to bring to the existing projects handed over by the previous government", said President Solih.
