The Cabinet on Tuesday made the decision to ratify the SAARC Framework Agreement for Energy Cooperation (Electricity).
The decision came following discussion at Tuesday's cabinet meeting, upon the advisement of the Attorney General.
The President's Office stated that the agreement will facilitate the Maldives to get assistance for renewable energy projects. Additionally, this agreement will allow the Maldives to gain Technical and Technological advancement as of other SAARC Member States.
While this agreement is being implemented, the Environment Ministry is working hard to establish the Maldives as a country that creates electricity via renewable energy sources.
