Ex-pres Maumoon meets with Malaysian PM

Former president Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has met with Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Bin Muhammad on behalf of Maumoon Reform Movement.

The two leaders have always maintained a cordial relationship.

During the meeting in Malaysia, Mumoon Abdul Gayyoom handed over a letter of invitation addressed to the Prime Minister by Maldivian president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

MRM revealed that the invitation to visit Maldives was graciously accepted by the Prime Minister.

On President Solih's request, president Maumoon discussed with the Prime Minister regarding the visa issues faced by Maldivian students and families in Malaysia, stating that he hoped for expedited efforts through diplomatic channels to address and resolve the issues.

President Maumoon shared with PM Mahathir that the current government of Maldives is comprised of a coalition between multiple parties, and highlighted that the coalition government is working towards reform. He also shed light on climate change and its affects.
