ACC pursues additional cases linked to tourism graft

Deputy commissioner of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Muawwiz Rasheed has declared that new information regarding the MMPRC scandal will be uncovered with the conclusion of five ongoing cases the commission is currently investigating.

The much awaited ACC report into the Maldives Media and PR Corporation (MMPRC) scandal earlier this month revealed that over USD79 million had been embezzled through the state tourism promotion company.

Speaking on the report, Muawwiz said five further leads linked to the graft are currently being pursued, and it is believed that the conclusion of the investigations would tie up all loose ends regarding the MMPRC case.

ACC is investigating cases linked to Maafaru Airport, utility company FENAKA Corporation, waste company WAMCO, a STR filed by Financial Intelligence Unit of central bank MMA and a case linked to SeaLife.
