Srilankan fishing boats caught in Maldivian waters

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has caught two Sri Lankan fishing boats illegally fishing in the Maldives' Industrial Zone.

MNDF revealed on Thursday that the boats were discovered 103 nautical miles south-east of Kelaa island, Ha. atoll. The boats are now under the custody of Coast Guard vessel, Huravee. The boats are being brought to Kulhudhuffushi island of Haa Dhal atoll, revealed the police.

MNDF did not reveal how many people were aboard the vessels, nor the type of fishing they were practicing.

A Sri Lankan fishing vessel was caught in the Maldivian Industrial Zone last December.
