21,203 re-registration forms under processing

Elections Commission has revealed that 21,203 forms have been submitted for re-registration of voting location for the upcoming parliamentary elections slated for April.

While the deadline for submission of re-registration forms expired late on Saturday night, more tan two-thirds of the form were submitted on Saturday night. Therefore, approximately two days will be needed to process the forms, said commission member Ahmed Akram. After compilation, the voter's list will be publicized and opened for submission of complaints, added Akram.

264,589 people are eligible to vote in the parliamentary elections scheduled for 6th April.

Although 403 candidates applied to contest for 87 constituencies in the parliamentary election, 8 candidates were rejected by the commission, bringing the total number of competing candidates to 395.
