EU delegation pays courtesy call to Pres Solih

The delegation visiting the Maldives for the Maldives-EU Policy Dialogue had paid a courtesy call to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The meeting took place on Monday at the President's Office. During the meeting, the issues faced by the Maldives were discussed in addition to the upcoming parliamentary election.

President Solih said the government will make all required efforts to ensure that the parliamentary elections are free and fair. He stressed on the importance of maintaining democracy in the island nation. Business prospects between Maldives and countries within the European Union were also discussed.

The EU ambassadors commended the president on the pledges chosen by the government to be achieved within the first 100 days of administration, and wished the government success, revealed the President's Office.

The Maldives-EU Policy Dialogue took place on Monday. The purpose of the dialogue is to facilitate open and constructive engagement between the Maldives and the European Union (EU) to further strengthen the existing ties of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and the European Union.
