ACC seeks police assistance over bribery complaints

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sought the assistance of Maldives Police Service (MPS) due to complaints of bribery linked to Saturday's parliamentary election.

According to the General Elections Act, bribes or gifts may not be given to gain an electoral right in favor of a person.

In a statement released by the ACC, they noted that the commission had received multiple complaints of bribes being offered linked to the parliamentary election. They confirmed that they have sought the assistance of Maldives Police Service to put a stop to such acts.

The commission urged the public not to commit any form of bribery as mentioned in the General Elections Act, and to inform the commission if money or any other incentive is offered by a candidate or their representatives.
