Dept. Speaker departs to Doha for IPU Assembly

Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Moosa Maniik has departed to Doha, Qatar to take part in the 140th assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The assembly will be held from April 6-10. The themes of international discussion include working towards world peace, establishing gender equality, steps that can be taken against terrorism, and human rights.

The Maldivian delegation will also take part in sideline discussions. Accompanying the Deputy Speaker are Holhudhoo MP Ali Mohamed, Kurendhoo MP Abdul Baaree Abdulla, and Secretary General of the Parliament, Fathimath Niusha.

1600 representatives from 160 countries will be taking part in the 140th assembly of IPU.
