Govt. condemns terrorist attack at Sri Lanka churches, hotels

The government of Maldives has condemned the terrorist attacks targeting Sri Lanka's churches and hotels early on Sunday morning.

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid issued a condemnation on twitter, and expressed condolences to the government and people of Sri Lanka.

It has been reported that a string of explosions hit two churches as worshippers attended Easter services on the Christian holiday, in addition to several high-end hotels. The affected locations are Saint Anthony Church, Saint Sebastien Church, Shangrila Hotel, Cinnamon Grande Hotel, Kingsbury Hotel.

Over 400 people including tourists have been injured in the attacks, and have been taken to the hospital for treatment, it has been reported. The current death toll is over 100, according to reports.

While a large number of Maldivians reside in Sri Lanka, there have been no reports that a Maldivian was injured in the attacks. The Foreign Ministry is currently seeking information on Maldivians in Sri Lanka.
