Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has met with senior officials of the Sri Lankan government.
Shahid is in Sri Lanka to attend the country's Independence Day celebrations. On Saturday, he met Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, and Foreign Minister Ali Sabry.
The Foreign Ministry said the leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries during the meetings.
Minister Shahid also met former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday.
