Pres. Solih expresses solidarity with Sri Lanka

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed solidarity with Sri Lanka following the terrorist attack targeting the country's churches and hotels.

In a tweet expressing his condolences, President Solih stated that he was saddened by the events in Sri Lanka and assured the support of the Maldives towards Sri Lanka and its people. He pledged the country's assistance in the fight against terrorism while affirming solidarity with Sri Lanka.

A string of explosions hit two churches as worshipers attended Easter services on the Christian holiday, in addition to several high-end hotels. The affected locations are Saint Anthony Church, Saint Sebastien Church, Shangrila Hotel, Cinnamon Grande Hotel, Kingsbury Hotel.

While the death toll of the attacks has reached over 130, more than 300 people have been injured in the blasts. An official from the Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka confirmed to AVAS that no reports of Maldivian casualties have been received thus far.
