Maldivian Embassy in Sri Lanka has urged all Maldivians to keep their passports on hand when leaving home in Sri Lanka.
The Embassy on Wednesday advised to ensure that all passports and visas are in check, and to cooperate with Sri Lankan authorities that may search homes following the series of bombings that took place in the country on Easter Sunday.
The Maldivian Embassy has previously confirmed that the authorities are randomly checking several homes and that residences of Maldivians have not been singled out for searches. The checks are being performed under a special operation being executed by Sri Lankan authorities.
320 people died and over 500 people were wounded in a series of bomb blasts that targeted churches and high-end hotels in Sri Lanka. Over 40 people have been arrested in connection to the blasts, with ISIS claiming responsibility for the attacks.
