A foreigner who fell overboard and hit a propeller of a dinghy vessel has died from the injuries sustained in the freak accident.
The police revealed that a 41-year old Bangladeshi man who worked as a crew on a diving boat of Halaveli Resort in Alif Alif atoll passed way in the incident. The man was departing to pick up the captain of the diving boat in a small dinghy when he fell backwards into the sea, hitting his head on the propeller of the vessel.
Onlookers who saw the man falling overboard rushed to the scene immediately, and saw that the victim’s shirt twisted around the propeller. He was already dead when he was taken to the atoll hospital in Rasdhoo island for treatment.
The police are investigating the case further.
