The Prosecutor General’s Office has appealed a case concerning former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom at the Supreme Court.
The Criminal Court previously ordered to freeze the accounts of the former president and to keep him under state custody until the end of his money-laundering trail. However, the High Court overruled both order.
While the Prosecutor General has filed a case at the Supreme Court, it is not clear which of the charges the case attributes to. The hearing has been scheduled for next Thursday.
President Yameen has been charged with money laundering by the Prosecutor General’s Office. The preliminary hearings of the case has already commenced at the Criminal Court.
