An explosion has taken aboard an MTCC speedboat injuring three.
The incident occurred around 11.15am on Monday morning on a launch moored at a jetty in Hulhumale'. Three people suffered burns of various degrees, including burns to the face and hands. All three people were taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital for treatment, the police revealed.
The management of Hulhumale Hospital, Aasandha Company said while two people have been discharged after treatment, one person is still being treated in the Emergency Room as his condition is serious.
The incident occurred in the jetty area used for loading and unloading goods located near the ferry terminal. The explosion took place when the battery caught fire while the crew attempted to change the switch of the petrol pump of the boat. The police are investigating the incident further.
