A man traveling to Ga. Kandhulhudhoo carrying drugs jumped overboard from the ferry he was traveling in in order to escape the police.
The police revealed that the man jumped overboard on Sunday night near uninhabited island Maavarulu when he came to know that the police were actively waiting for his arrival at his destination.
Three civilians went after the fleeing man in a dinghy vessel, however, the vessel capsized leaving the three men drifting at sea.
While one of the civilians swam to safety to Maavarulu, the second man climbed aboard a nearby boat. However, the third civilian and the suspect have not been located thus far.
