Maldives National University (MNU) has signed an MoU on assistance with Civil and Structural Engineering Consultants Pvt Ltd. (CSEC) of Sri Lanka.
The MoU was exchanged in a ceremony held at Maldives National University, with Vice Chancellor of MNU Dr Ali Fawaz Shareef signing the document on behalf of the university and Managing Director Shiromi Fernando representing CSEC.
Under the agreement, CSEC will provide practical training to university students on the construction module, as well as training and capacity building for MNU faculty members. First degree scholarships will also be granted in addition to providing internship opportunities.
In addition, opportunities for bilateral research with CSEC and University of Melbourne and collaboration on joint publications with Maldivian academics will also be provided. CSEC will also work towards organizing international conferences in the Maldives.
CSEC is a company that has undertaken several structural engineering projects in the Maldives. The structural engineering work of Nasandura Hotel is being handled by the company. Speaking at the ceremony, Shiromal Fernando stated that CSEC is looking forward in helping young minds move forward in the field of structural engineering.
