Work commenced on Maduvvari water system

The practical work of establishing a water system in Maduvvary island of Raa atoll commenced on Saturday.

The project being funded under a grant aid by Green Climate Fund was inaugurated by Environment Minister Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan.

Water systems will also be established in Baa Dharavandhoo, Haa Dhaal Nolhuvaranfaru, and Shaviyani Foakaidhoo under the grant. Several work will also be done toward the establishment of rain water harvesting systems and overall development of the water service sector.

This includes assistance in providing training for water providers to develop their capacity, and regulating the services, and the reform of the laws pertaining to the sector in addition to human resource building. US$ 23,636,364 will be spent in total for the project.
