Special adviser to Japanese PM calls on Pres. Solih

Special Adviser of the Japanese Prime Minister, Kentaro Sonoura paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih early Tuesday.

The adviser is visiting the Maldives to participate in the Maldive Partnership Forum which took place at Kurumba Maldives over a period of two days.

During the meeting, the President thanked the Special Adviser for his participation and contribution at the Partnership Forum. The President's Office reported that President Solih noted that a very close relationship exists between Japan and Maldives.

The president also acknowledged the recent contribution of 500,000,000 Yen made b the Japanese government towards the socio-economic development of the Maldives.

Discussions regarding President Solih's scheduled visit to Japan later this year also took place during the meeting, and President Solih extended an invitation to Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo to make an official visit to the Maldives at his convenience.
