The report prepared by Human Rights Commission of the Maldives on the boy who went missing while under state care has been presented to the parliament.
HRCM revealed that the commission's findings on the case of Shaim Abdulla, 14, who went missing from Vilimale' Children's orphanage were compiled as a report and presented to the parliament on Saturday.
Shaim was undergoing an assessment at orphanage when he went missing on June 18th. It was not disclosed at the time that the boy was under state care. However, the fact came to light when a court order issued by the Juvenile Court to locate the boy was leaked on social media, prompting a public uproar.
While Gender Minister, Shidhatha Shareef has been heavily criticized over the matter, she has admitted that the state had not failed to handle Shaim's case properly.
