Maldives to complete inspection of tourism areas next month

The government would complete inspections of resorts, hotel, guest houses and safaris next month, tourism minister Ali Waheed said Monday.

Minister took the initiative to resolve dispute between the management and staff of the Manafaru resort. Minister met with both parties separately to discuss and find a solution after several employees went on a hunger strike in protest against the decision to layoff some of the staff. Minister returned to the capital early Monday morning attributing the dispute to miscommunication before adding that the matter had now been resolved.

Decision to inspect all tourism based areas was because it is believed that the previous inspections were not done properly.

"After concluding inspections we will know which areas need most development and will do accordingly. I hope to gain cooperation as before from the businesses." stated Minister.
