Tourism Minister discusses ways to improve tourism in China

Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has held discussions with the Maldives Ambassador to China, Aishath Azeema on ways to improve Maldivian tourism in China.

According to Tourism Ministry, Minister Ali Waheed and Ambassador Azeema had lengthy discussions on how to further expand tourism within China. In addition to this, the minister also informed the ambassador on the ministry’s work to ensure the safety of the tourists arriving in Maldives.

China is one of the most important markets for the tourism sector in the Maldives; among the top 5 markets for tourist arrivals. During the past 5 months alone, 116,286 tourists visited the Maldives from China.

Minister Ali Waheed also met with the Counter Terrorism Coordinator of European Union and EU’s Ambassador as well to hold discussions regarding the tourism sector.
