US Dollar revenue has increased by 18.7% during the second quarter of the year, owing to increase in number of tourist arrivals.

Statistics publicized by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) show US$ 160.5 million was received during the second quarter. US$ 153 million was generated during the same period last year.

MIRA said that US$ revenue increased due to increase in amount received as TGST, Green Tax and resort rent.

While a 24% increase in tourist arrivals was recorded in the last quarter. the number of resorts being operated in Maldives has increased compared to the same period last year. This in turn has increased the revenue generated as Airport Service Charge and Airport Development Fee.

An increase has been recorded in revenue received in US$ in the second quarter, with US$ 55.89 million generated in April, US$ 43 million in May and US$ 61.51 in June.
