High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security policy and Vice President of the EU Commission, Federica Mogherini arrived in the Maldives on Thursday afternoon.
Mogherini met with Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and senior officials from the Foreign Ministry. She paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at the President's Office.
Mogherini is scheduled to address at the Maldives Parliament. Foreign diplomats and high level politicians will be in attendance at the event.
Foreign Ministry has not revealed many details regarding Mogherini's visit. However, a joint press conference will be given by Ms Mogherini and Minister Shahid, the Foreign Ministry said.
