President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sent independence Day greetings to neighboring India.
In a tweet posted by the President, he sent felicitations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Mod and the people of India on the occasion of their 73rd Independence Day. Noting that India is a close friend and neighbor, President Solih affirmed in his tweet that the Maldives would continue to work with Indian government to further strengthen ties between the countries.
India gained independence from the British on 15th August 1947.
