PG group leaders return report on journo's murder back to Parliament Secretariat

Parliamentary Group Leaders have returned the report prepared by Presidential Commission Investigating Murders and Enforced Disappearances on the murder of Miniwan News journalist Ahmed Rilwan, back to the Parliament Secretariat.

President of the Commission Husnu-al-Suood on Monday presented a draft copy of the report to Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed, which was then shared with PG Group leaders.

However, amid rumors that the documents had been taken back, a PG Group leader who spoke to AVAS confirmed that the reports were returned by the PG leaders on their own accord as the information on secret witnesses had not been retracted from the document when it was initially handed over by Speaker Nasheed. While a summarized report was later given, the document has now been published on the Parliament website.

The PG Leaders are Henveiru Central MP Ali Azim from MDP, PPM's Deputy Leader Ahmed Shiyam, Maduvvary MP Adam Shareef from PNC, Jumhooree Party's leader Gasim Ibrahim, Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir from MDA.

The Commission Investigating Murders and Enforced Disappearances revealed on Sunday that Ahmed Rilwan was murdered by an extremist religious group. Suood said Rilwan was abducted from Hulhumale' and taken to a boat, on which he was murdered.
