Govt seeks party to assess condition of ‘Hiyaa’ applicants

The President's Office is seeking a party to assess the condition of the individuals who applied for government housing under the ‘Hiyaa’ project.

The President's Office Thursday said the committee established to investigate issues related to housing projects require a party to assess the condition of the applicants.

The announcement also entails that those appointed must report their findings to the President's Office by September 11.

Over 22,000 people submitted their applications for the 'Hiyaa' flats in the year 2018 under 12 categories, out of which 6,327 applicants were guaranteed housing.

Previous administration initiated practical work on the flats on the 19th December 2017. It was decided that the 6,880 flats would be situated in Phase 2 of Hulhumale', spread over 16 buildings of 25 storeys.

While construction is ongoing, President Ibrahim Solih has made strong objections to the structure and layout of the flats.
