Pres appoints Ali Shareef as JSC member

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Ali Shareef as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The appointment was made at a meeting held at the President's Office on Sunday, during which the president handed over the letter of appointment to Ali Shareef. The newly appointed member took his oath of office in front of Supreme Court Justice Abdul Ghanee Mohamed.

The President appointed Ali Shareef in accord with the powers granted to him under Article 158 (d) of the Maldivian Constitution and Section 3 Paragraph 4 of Law No. 2008/10.

Ali Shareef won the election held to elect a member to represent the lower courts at the JSC after competing with Chief Judge of Criminal Court Ahmed Hailam. Shareef received 127 votes in the election held last month.
