Island Aviation has stated that flight operations between Cochin and Hanimaadhoo will commence on 28th of October.
At a press conference held in India on Tuesday to launch the new route, Island Aviation's Deputy Managing Director Mariyam Jennifer stated that the operation would commence on 28th of next month. She further said the national airline Maldivian's role in tourism development would expand with the added route.
"We want Indian travelers to experience the white the sandy beaches, crystal blue waters, and the warmth of our climate. This arrangement will allow them to visit and experience Maldives at affordable airfares", Jennifer said.
While Maldivian has scheduled three daily flights for the route, tickets from Male' to Cochin cost US$150. Tickets from Hanimaadhoo to Cochin cost US$ 199.
Cochin is a city in India that a lot of locals travel to for medical treatment.
Maldivian also revealed that preparations are underway to strengthen the airline's operations. As such, Airbus 330 flight will be added to its fleet to begin operations to China and other destinations next year.
In addition to Cochin, Maldivian will be arranging flight routes to Trivandrum and Chennai of India.
