Maldives Drivers Association has stated that taxis parked around capital Male' have been vandalized over the past couple of days.
The association revealed that since last week, taxi cabs parked in various spots of Male' are being targeted and vandalized. Several taxis had its windows smashed and doors broken down, with taxi board and radio systems getting stolen.
The association claim the acts of vandalism are targeting taxi drivers, and called on authorities to identify the perpetrators.
Maldives Police Service have stated that acts of vandalism on four wheeled vehicles - including both taxis and private cars-, as the theft of items from vehicles are on the rise. They further stated that investigations were ongoing, and that suspects involved in the acts are being arrested. No further details were provided.
