Advisory committee being formed for Arbitration Center board

A ten-member advisory committee is being established to provide counsel to Maldives International Arbitration Center's board.

An announcement made by the Arbitration Center on Wednesday said they are seeking to establish a committee to review the center's arbitration regulations and provide counsel. All interested candidates are to send in their application for committee membership before 1330 hrs of 14th October to the Attorney General's Office.

Applicants must have minimum 10 years experience in the judicial sector. Practical experience in the arbitration field is also a requirement.

Although the Arbitration Law came into effect in 2013, the arbitration center was established under the law six year later. The board of the center has been now comprised, with Ahmed Shahudhy as Chairman, Hussain Siraj as Vice Chairperson and Safa Shareef as a member of the board.
