Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with stakeholders from several government authorities regarding fire safety standards in the Malé region.
The meeting was held Wednesday at the President’s Office.
The discussions focused on preventive measures to avoid tragic fire incidents. The relocation of fuel and chemical storages away from residential areas and standardization of the handling and storage of highly flammable goods were discussed, as well as methods to immediately implementing safer and more efficient delivery of fuel on fuel bowsers.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Faisal Naseem urged stakeholders to adhere to the safety guidelines of the Fire and Rescue Service from the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
Stakeholders briefed the Vice President about ongoing efforts to follow fire safety standards and deliberated on the challenges to placing the measures.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), State Trading Organisation (STO), Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM), Malé City Council, Maldives Police Service (MPS), and the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
