Health Ministry has stated that the percentage of children to whom Hepatitis B vaccination has been administered to in the Maldives has been maintained at 98.5%.
A report published by the ministry on Tuesday said the vaccination rates have been maintained at 98.5% under efforts to prevent and treat diseases.
More than 1.34 million people die from Hepatitis B annually. There are five different types of Hepatitis viruses. In Maldives, Hepatitis B is controlled at 90%.
Health Ministry and World Health Organisation has been researching on how the virus is spread and the rate at which it is spread at a national level. A National Hepatitis Program was launched on Tuesday by Heath Protection Agency.
