Economic Ministry has announced that this week's expatriate registration services will not be held.
Economic Ministry had earlier announced that they will be offering re-registration services for illegal migrant workers in the country at the National Stadium every Saturday. Thousands of expatriates line up at the stadium since the night before to ensure entry on Saturday.
However, the regulation program will not be conducted this Saturday, the ministry has announced in a notice put up on the gates of the stadium. The notice, also written in Bengali, stated that the Ministry would inform the new date the re-registration would commence.
A task force named 'National Task Force on Issues Related to Migrant Workers' was established by the government to resolve immigrant issues.
One of the steps taken by the workforce was to suspend bringing in new laborers from Bangladesh for a period of one year. The task force is also allowing the opportunity for unregistered expat to register themselves.
