JSC to probe alleged planned dismissal of Supreme Court SG

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has made the decision to probe allegations of the Supreme Court attempting to dismiss its Secretary General Dr. Hussain Faiz.

The matter has been put on the agenda for the JSC sitting scheduled for Wednesday.

In a statement, JSC said complaints that Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi had threatened to dismiss the SG from his post if he cooperated or communicated with Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) had been filed at the commission.

While the JSC announced their decision to begin disciplinary proceedings over the complaint, the commission was informed that SG Faiz would be dismissed from his post at the top court within the week, said JSC.

Recent changes to the JSC Act transferred administrative powers of DJA under JSC. The DJA previously functioned under the Supreme Court. The DJA is mandated to organize, implement and oversee all administrative matters of the Judiciary.

In their statement, JSC called on all relevant authorities to cooperate with DJA following the recent changes, and urged not to obstruct the DJA from enforcing the law.
