Criminal Court Judge Ali Rasheed's apartment vandalised

The residence of Acting Chief Judge of Criminal Court Ali Rasheed was vandalized early Tuesday.

Police said the front door of Judge Ali Rasheed's apartment was damaged using an axe, with some writing scribbled on the door. The police received reports of the incident in the early hours of Tuesday, said the police.

While the axe used in the act was recovered by the door of the judge's apartment, no arrests have been made in connection to the case thus far. The police said they are taking necessary measures and investigating the case.

Judge Ali Rasheed was appointed as the Acting Chief of the Criminal Court after Chief Judge Ahmed Hailam was suspended by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) over a controversial Victory Day greeting sent by the judge to a social network group.

Hailam's suspension has directed criticism towards the government, with Hailam himself making serious allegations against the government.
