India to finance development of ice plants in Gaafaru and Maduvvari

An agreement has been signed to develop two ice plants in K. Gaafaru and R. Madduvari under Indian foreign aid.

Ice plants of 25 tonnes each will be established in the two islands under efforts to increase the ice producing capacity of fishing boats across the country.

V.A.M & Company (VAMCO) was awarded the project for MVR 7 million to be completed in five months. Permanent Secretary of the Fisheries Ministry, Dr Aminath Shafiya and Deputy Managing Director of VAMCO, Mohamed Zubair signed the agreement.
