India grants financial support to install streetlights in Kolhufushi

The Indian government has granted MVR 1.5 million to install street lights in Meemu Kolhufushi.

Foreign Ministry said installing a proper street light system in the island is critical to provide a safe environment for the people of Kolhufushi. 115 street lights will be installed in residential areas of Kolhufushi under the project.

The grant assistance has been provided through India’s the aid scheme to the Maldives agreed during the visit of the former Minister of External Affairs of India, Sushma Swarej in March 2019. The aim of the grant assistance is to conduct socio-economic development projects across the country.
