Home Minister Imran Abdulla will be attending Parliament to answer questions on whether the large building being constructed in Addu City, Hithadhoo will serve as an Indian military base.
Summoning Minister Imran has been put on the agenda for Tuesday's Parliament assembly.
The proposition to question Imran was put forward by Feydhoo MP Mohamed Nihad. While the area in question stretches over a distance of 1 km, Minister Imran will be questioned on the purpose of the building under construction at the location, the contractor and the terms of agreement.
It has been rumoured that the building being constructed in Hithadhoo will be used as a military base by India. While the opposition has on multiple occasions accused that the new government intended to allow foreign countries to establish military bases in Maldives, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) continues to deny the rumours.
