President appoints members to Maldives Broadcasting Commission

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday appointed three members to the Maldives Broadcasting Commission as approved by the Parliament.

The letters of appointment were handed over to Mariyam Waheedha, Ali Yusuf and Ahmed Gais upon their appointment to the commission at a ceremony held at the President's Office.

Ali Yusuf completed postgraduate studies in journalism at the Asian College of Journalism, India and is a seasoned journalist. Ali Yusuf last held the post of News Director at Raajje TV.

Mariyam Waheedha earned her Master's Degree in Developmental Studies at the University of East Anglia, the United Kingdom. She previously served as a board member at Public Service Media (PSM).

Ahmed Gais attained his Master's Degree in Business Administration at Anglia Ruskin University, the United Kingdom. He previously served as a Councillor at South Huvadhoo Atoll Council.

At a commission meeting held following the appointment, Mariyam Waheeda was elected the President of the Commission, while Gais was elected as Vice President.
