Two people have been arrested in a drug raid conducted by Maldives Police Service.
The police searched a residence in Maafannu ward of capital Male' under a court order on Wednesday night. The operation was carried out based on a tip received by police intelligence that large-scale drug trade was ongoing at the location.
The police said two local men aged 44 and 47 were arrested in the operation.
Police said 33 film canisters containing substances suspected of being drugs, and 22 bottles of alcohol and 8 cases of alcohol were discovered at the residence.
The case is being further investigated by the Drug Enforcement Department.
