The religious scholar Dr Mohamed Iyaz has said that there should not be a permission to celebrate the new year, allowing to get intoxicated and opportunity for obscene behaviours.
Tweeting to commemorate 15 years to the Tsunami disaster, Dr.Iyaz said that it should not be permitted to hold DJ shows in the name of celebrating the new year. He said that those who facilitate it and those who permit it would be guilty on the same level.
Iyaz further said that we should not forget Allah's uncountable grace on us and in any happiness or unhappiness we should not forget that. He further said that we should learn a lesson from the Tsunami of 2004.
Shows are being held in Male' and other islands every year to celebrate the new year.
