Gayyoom's health has improved, says daughter

The health of former Maldives strongman Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom is improving, his daughter has revealed.

The former president was hospitalized at state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in capital Male' last Monday after his health deteriorated due to common-cold.

In a tweet posted Wednesday updating the public on Gayyoom's health, Heritage Minister and Gayyoom's daughter Yumna Maumoon said the former president is doing very well. She thanked the doctors and nurses of IGMH for their impeccable service in treating her father.

Gayyoom has been suffering from a cold for the past week. The ruling coalition partner turned 82 on Sunday.
